Spiro Douvris

Spiro Douvris is the founder of Beef Shack and a lifelong resident of Chicago, Illinois. Spiro grew up with an extremely strong Greek background, and it influences his life to this day.

Spiro Douvris has always been interested in sports and even played baseball in high school. Douvris played football and basketball recreationally as well as participated on a coed softball team. Spiro is inspired by Micheal Jordan’s mindset, who has been quoted as saying “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying. I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.” Spiro Douvris hopes to imitate this attitude throughout everything he does.

Spiro brings his “work hard, play hard” attitude to the business world as well. Douvris believes that there are an extreme amount of similarities to sports strategies and business strategies, and he tries to implement them appropriately. Most recently, Douvris worked as the President of Beef Shack, located in Saint Charles, Illinois. Aside from that, Douvris has several entrepreneurial projects in the works. 

When it comes to his entrepreneurial style, Douvris states that being passionate about what you do is the most important aspect of your business. Spiro believes that without passion, nothing great will be accomplished. Douvris has had the unique opportunity to work with his family in business- which has taught him even more about working as a team. 

The Beef Shack is a franchise that is known as the “home of the cheezy beef.” Spiro Douvris maintained the ownership of his first establishment after he sold the company’s franchising rights. In February 2020, Douvris decided to pursue other ventures, leaving the Beef Shack in great hands. Douvris hopes that the St. Charles location will continue to see success as it did when he was the owner.  In addition to Spiro’s business endeavors, he has recently launched a family real estate development company called Owlcrest Development.  Owlcrest Development is a family-owned real estate development firm that is driven by passion and committed to creating the best possible experience for its customers. With their most recent project being co-developers for a new residential building in the Illinois Medical District. Spiro Douvris also has been coaching and consulting for restaurants. With this coaching company called Spiro Solutions and consulting company, Trophi Hospitality, he assists restaurant owners and managers with everyday issues that come along with restaurants. He as well has a pending patent for a new invention, a bolder lane mixer cocktail maker. The mixer is a custom bottle with a cap attachment that can hold a secondary liquid that is separate from the original liquid.

Aside from his professional pursuits, Spiro Douvris is extremely committed to local philanthropy. Specifically, Douvris and his family donate to the Children’s Memorial Hospital frequently. Because Douvris’ family has strong Greek influences, Spiro was raised with the knowledge of ”Filotimo,” or the importance of giving back to the community.
